Another Astros's Update

Not much more done as I've been busy with the little one this past week but I did get to put a few stitches in last night before they got fussy. We were able to watch most of the Home Run Derby but I missed out on the final match because Logan said Go to bed, Goodnight! and started screaming. It would have been a perfect match up if Lance Berkman had been able to go up against Josh Hamilton but the outcome was good. Josh broke some records but tired himself out too much (28 homeruns in the first session WOW!) and the underdog won. I was happy as long as none of their picks won but I would have been estatic if Berkman could have been there in the final. Oh well at least he and Tejada will be playing tonight in the All Star Game so it's going to be another fun night of baseball! I'm hoping that next year we get to take our vacation to Houston to see some games at the ballpark.

Topic of the week for June 30th

What is your favorite holiday and why??

Hmmm that is a tough one for me. I love Christmas because I have little ones and they get soooo excited when Santa comes. I love all the good food and all the pretty decorations. I also love Thanksgiving because it's a day where DH can stay home with us and just relax. Most times my family spends it home by ourselves so I don't have to cook a turkey I can do something else fun. I think I made a nice chili dinner this past year as no one came over as they all had plans elsewere. I did miss the turkey leftovers and all the other good next day leftovers so I think I will go back to making the turkey with all the trimmings this year!

When you were a kid what was your favorite holiday and why??

That is easy and it's not going to be what you would think! I loved LOVED the 4th of July! We lived on a lake in a small town in Connecticut. Although fireworks were frowned upon they never pushed the issue. The neighbors would order all sorts of good fireworks and set them off on their "raft" on the lake in front of their house. We'd sit outside with a little bonfire going and roast marshmellows, put a huge watermelon in the lake to get cold and make home made ice cream. OH the great times we had, especially the time they thought they had dropped a match on the raft where all the fire works were! My brother and the neighbor's son were in long pants and long sleeved shirts (it was a cool wet day!) when it happend. My brother freaked and dove into the water fully clothed and the neighbor jumped into the boat that was tied to the raft. What a hoot it was when they realized the match went out before it ever got near the fireworks! I'm not sure which is remembered with more glee; the fireworks display or the soggy teenagers lighting them!

Another Update

Here is the latest update on the Astros project for DH. I was able to stitch quite a bit on Sunday and a little bit here and there this week. It's getting there slowly. I'd like to be able to pick up the ocean project that I'd been working on and start on the 4 Seasons SAL from one of my groups but I have to get this done! I'm not allowing myself to touch anything else until I get this darn thing finished and then to the framers. I would frame it myself (I did some years back) but I want this to be perfect so he can hang it in his office at the resort. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I'm getting excited just knowing that I can start another project and continue on with the other start I did a month or so ago.

The one group that I'm in was doing the topic of the week which was a lot of fun but the owner has so much on her plate that she is asking someone to take over the group. A couple of us volunteered and even volunteered to just moderate for her if she wanted to keep it herself. I'd hate to see that group go away. I'm looking forward to the topic of week starting back up again and may think of a few myself just so I don't get the withdrawels from it!!

Update for week of June 16th

Here is the latest update shot of the Astros project that I've been working on for hubby. I had hoped to finish it in time for Father's Day but with the kids and me being sick for about a week that threw all my good intentions right out the window. I didn't get a chance to work on it at all yesterday as the kids were in rare form.

For some reason for the past week or so Katie has decided she is afraid of the dark. She will go to bed but will wake up right about the time we're ready to lay down. I have to go in her room, turn the light on and sit there until she falls asleep. She's done that to me every night for the past week. Thankfully yesterday I was able to keep her from taking a nap so she was very tired and didn't wake back up. She did however refuse to go to sleep until after 11:00. Logan was up and running around until around 12:30 a.m. That little stinker decided he was going to eat around 10:00; couldn't get him to eat anything at dinner time so what the heck right? He also has a new knickname; Sir Poop-A-Lot. I think yesterday's record was five dirty diapers for him (not to mention the other two!) We had just got the alarm set for the night and out he runs saying diaper. At least he's telling me right????!! Some days I feel like all I do is feed them and change poopy diapers.

Somewhat of an update

No stitching last week or weekend due to the head cold I received from my lovable Logan. He does love to share with his Mommy! Glasses don't sit comfortably on my nose when I'm all stuffed up so all I could do was look longingly at my projects and listen to Marie ask over and over and over to start her project.

No biggie; I'm hoping today to get some stitching time in after some cleanup and playtime with the kids. Since they are all home for the summer I'm also looking for something that will take my mind off the chaos that I have no control over. I can't go around picking up after them ever single second of the day so I do it once in the morning and once at night. If I try to do more I only drive myself insane so I need something to take my mind of that. Besides my stitching, does anyone have any recommendations????!!!

Progress for Astro's project

I actually have more done than this but I don't have a more updated shot. I have been able to get the A totally outlined even though I did spend some time ripping part of it back out because the very first stitch I put in was off by one. I'm now trying to finish the gold color then on to completely fill in the A. I don't think I'm going to get this done in time for it to be framed for Father's Day but I don't think Curtis is going to mind. He's been checking out my progress and helping with Ryan when I work on it. I try to stitch on it when the game is on each night but that doesn't always happen. Last night we forgot the game was on early so we missed the first hour of the game but thankfully we didn't miss anything good. I was able to start stitching around 9:30 so I stitched for a little over an hour. If I can get Marie started on her new project I'm hoping to make time (about an hour) each day to work on it while she works on hers. If I can get an hour during the day and whatever at night I might get it done a week after Father's Day.

I'm really excited about getting Marie going on a project. Last summer when I tried to teach her how to stitch she didn't quite grasp it and was very frustrated. She did her class project last week on how to stitch and she did a great job and was very happy. She's been bugging me every day to start the new project so if she behaves today and helps me clean out her disaster area, I mean room, then we can start tomorrow. I'll try to get the pictures I took of her for her project on here in the next day or so; she was so cute. I think this is the first class project that she's been very excited about all year!
